About English Language House (ELH):

Who we are:
English Language House (ELH) is accredited by the British Council, inspected by ISI, a member of
English UK and is licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System.
We are an excellent language school and we offer many different courses to help foreign students
improve their English Language skills.
We are the only organisation in Milton Keynes that runs the Cambridge University CELTA and DELTA teacher training courses for teachers who want to teach English as a Foreign Language. You can find our CELTA and DELTA courses on the Cambridge English website.

Teachers, Students and Budget Classes:

Our Budget Classes give students the opportunity to attend English lessons at a cost that is very
competitive.
Teachers who teach our Budget Classes are all CELTA qualified (or equivalent) and some may be
doing a post graduate course (the DELTA course) which leads to a higher qualification in English
Language Teaching.
All CELTA qualified teachers are monitored by our Academic Manager, more senior teachers and
teacher trainers to ensure that lessons are taught to a high standard.

Fees: £35 per hour for each group of students

This is the rate for the whole group not per student.
Full payment must be made in advance for a minimum of 10 hours.

Size of your group:

We recommend an average size of 6 to 8 students per group and a maximum size of 12.

Age of your group:

Groups of over 18s will be taught together, Groups of under 18s will be taught together If you are
interesred in a chidlrens’ group please let us know what age the children will be .

The Registration fee:

When students first join ELH they pay a registration fee of £32. This is to cover administration,
group assessment, course design and feedback costs. Students only pay the registration fee
once .

About Budget Classes:

Budget Classes are for groups of students who are the same level and want to do General English
classes together.

We offer the following Budget Classes:

CLASS NAME:
General English / Elementary
General English / Upper Elementary
General English / Lower Intermediate
General English / Intermediate
General English / Upper Intermediate
General English / Advanced
General English/ Proficiency

DAY & TIME:
Classes will usually be from 4.00pm -6.00pm on a day to be arranged

Minimum number of hours per day: 2 hrs

Minimum total number of hours you can book: 10hrs

Class description:

General English classes aim to improve students’ all round ability in English. These classes are
designed to provide a balance of practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Lessons
will also cover grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. A course book is used during lessons.

Additional costs:

The ELH library:
Students may wish to join the ELH library and borrow graded readers (books appropriate for
their level) to read and improve their English outside class. They need to pay a refundable
deposit of £20 to do this. When they return all the books they borrowed in good condition, they
will get their money back.

Exams:
Students who wish to sit an exam (eg FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, Skills for Life etc) will need to pay
the examination fee and/or exam preparation course fee for this exam.

Teachers’ travel costs:
Groups who wish to have lessons outside ELH (eg at their place of work, school, office etc) may
need to pay an additional charge to cover the teacher’s travel costs.

Classes not on weekdays and/or not between 4.00-6.00pm
Groups who want classes on Saturday or Sunday or on weekdays outside 4.00-6.00pm may need to
pay an additional premium rate.

Premium Rates:
Budget class times are usually from 4.00pm to 6.00pm on weekdays. If your group would like
something different this is also possible and the exact days and times will be negotiated between your
group and English Language House.

In this instance the following premium rate/s may be charged:

Premium rate charges for certain days/times as follows:
For Midweek lessons timetabled outside 4.00pm-6.00pm + £2.00 per hour per group
Saturday lessons between 9.00am – 8.00pm + £4.00 per hour per group
Sunday lessons between 9.00am – 8.00pm + £6.00 per hour per group
Lessons starting before 9.00am Monday – Friday or finishing after 9.00pm as follows:
15mins before 9.00am or after 8.00pm + £3.50 per day per group
30mins before 9.00am or after 8.00pm + £3.60 per day per group
45mins before 9.00am or after 8.00pm + £3.80 per day per group
60mins before 9.00am or after 8.00pm + £4.00 per day per group
Premium rate charges for lessons held at your place of work may be incurred in certain circumstances.

These may be as follows:
● Classes held in your place of work in Milton Keynes between 4.00pm -6.00pm on weekdays:
+ £2 per hour per group
● Classes held in your place of work outside Milton Keynes between 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday + £4 per hour + teacher’s cost of travel per group

NOTE: ELH may choose to waiver the “Premium Rate charges” in certain instances.

Fees are inclusive of the following:
● Preliminary testing
● Needs Analysis
● Progress reports
● Supplementary materials
● Homework and marking

Teachers:

Teachers are native speakers, qualified to CELTA level and may also be undergoing the DELTA
training programme at ELH.
● CELTA is an initial qualification in TEFL
● DELTA is a post graduate qualification in TEFL
